Walk in Bonfire Processions
Standing on the edge of the road watching all the bonfire societies walk by in burning torchlight, wearing costumes and smugglers colours, the distant rhythms of drums which draw you in as they approach closer, the excitement on board the floats, music, lights, lasers, laughter and jollying, is a spectacle not to be missed, but watching a bonfire procession and taking part are two totally different experiences.
When you become a member of Rotherfield & Mark Cross Bonfire Society you are then able to join us at a selection of Bonfire Processions and Carnivals. It is much more exciting to be holding fire torches, it's warmer too, and great exercise ,as well as a great deal of fun. We usually have special access to the bonfire site and are always rewarded with a spectacular firework display .
There is a real sense of community within our Bonfire Society and all societies, one big bonfire family. It's a great way to meet new people and make new friends, we're a very friendly bunch. We are proud to wear our colours, represent our village, uphold tradition and etiquette. What better way to spend a few evenings of the year than joining us at processions across Sussex to raise money for local charities and promote cheer to a large cross-section of the community.
