Mobile Street Disco - How we started
The National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal

Our society wanted to do something to support the national efforts in combatting the worldwide pandemic of Covid 19.

We came up with the idea of a mobile disco, operating locally whilst exercising social distancing. It proved to be a complete hit and we are now planning further village disco schedules due to popular demand.

Through our JustGiving page and over the course of three disco events the generous community of Rotherfield & Mark. Cross raised a grand total of £2775.76 including gift aid. The Appeal has now ended and therefore the page is subsequently closed down and a new cause has been selected for our future disco events.

The funds raised were donated to the National Emergencies Trust (NET) who launched a fundraising appeal to help those most affected by the recent coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

The NET works collaboratively with a wide range of organisations to ensure the maximum amount of money is raised and distributed securely, effectively and fairly to those organisations and local charities who can do the most to help those in need.

All of this has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Darren Mitchell from Siteseal providing a van and happily driving to all locations; The Kings Arms, Rotherfield, for providing the PA System and disco lights; and Coppards for supplying us with a generator.

Keeping our spirits up in these challenging times is imperative. The mental health of people in all demographics of the community can be affected due to the effects of social isolation. We wanted to present an opportunity for people to release some of the stresses and frustrations that we are all experiencing.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and the support given by the local community and groups in the area absolutely commendable.

It wasn't long before the local press picked up on our efforts. We were contacted by BBC Sussex Radio to tell the world what we have been doing.
Kim Paterson, Marketing & Social Media Officer for RMCBS delivered an excellent interview.
